Makoto "Shinryu" Takahashi (born July 5, 2000) basically grew up with wrestling.

From third grade to the end of junior high school his life was all about wrestling.

In the final year of junior high school (equivalent to freshmen in US high schools), Makoto made it to the final of All Japan Junior High School Wrestling Championships. Everyone thought Makoto will be attending a high school with powerhouse wrestling team but instead of continuing education he decided to turn pro at age 15.

In 2016, just about three months before he turns 16, Makoto made his pro MMA debut in Pancrase 277. Makoto stormed through the competition. In first seven pro fights, Makoto won six, drew once, and faced Tatsumitsu Wada for the DEEP flyweight title.

Makoto lost this fight via unanimous decision but he came back strong, Winning next four fights including a win over Yusaku Nakamura in Bellator 237.

In 2020, Makoto signed with the RIZIN Fighting Federation, defeated Seichiro Ito in RIZIN 23 via unanimous decision.

Makoto took about a year of break to open his own gym named Shinryu World Gym in his hometown Senday city, then came back to competition in 2021, improved winning streak to six with an unanimous win over Shooto title contender Ryuya Fukuya.

Makoto is considered as one of the best prospects in Japan's flyweight division.
